Every upload is transcoded in your own browser into 360p, 720p and 1080p H.264 renditions before it leaves your device, so playback adapts to your connection without a server-side encoder in the middle.
Recommendations run a two-stage pipeline. Retrieval narrows the library using your topic affinity, the creators you follow and freshness. Ranking then scores that shortlist on engagement rate, velocity and retention.
New uploads enter a trial tier and are shown to a small circle first. If people actually watch, distribution widens. If they do not, it stops there — no paid override.
